About the Hamer Community
The Hamar people live in the Omo Valley of southern Ethiopia, where traditions continue to shape everyday life and strengthen the bonds between generations.
Their cultural identity is beautifully expressed through handcrafted jewellery, intricate hairstyles, colourful adornments and ceremonial dress. Every detail carries meaning, reflecting belonging, family and the important moments that connect the community. Creativity is woven into daily life, where craftsmanship and artistic expression continue to honor traditions that have been preserved for centuries.
